The majority of our events involve fifty or more people. This means that we need to have coffee pots that are able to make many cups to serve all at once. The kitchen was stocked with one hundred cup coffee pots, but these are not the best coffee makers because they take so long to perk, and the coffee tastes bitter if it stands for any length of time. We decided that a sub committee of three would go to a local restaurant supplier and try to find out the best coffee makers for our situation. I love coffee and I am quite picky about how it tastes, so I volunteered to be on the committee.

If the coffee bean comes only from the bourbon coffee bean trees the coffee is called Bourbon Santos 2. The name Santos is derived from the port in which the coffee beans are generally shipped from. The 2 on the name of Santos 2, or any type of coffee, is the grade as 2 is the highest grade of Brazil coffee. The 2 is usually not present when the coffee is presented on menus of specialty coffee stores so the beverage will only be shown as Brazil Bourbon Santos or Brazil Santos.

Once I discovered the taste of freshly ground coffee beans, it was hard for me to think of using anything else. Most already ground coffee is just fine, but there is just something wonderful about grinding your own coffee beans, loading up the machine, and tasting the amazing taste of the resulting fresh cup of coffee. Though it takes me a little longer to get my coffee going in the morning, the results are worth it.

Coffee beans that are off a gourmet variety are then sold to a large coffee bean roaster company or green coffee brokers. Green coffee is also called raw coffee. From the coffee bean roaster it is sorted and sometimes processed again. Then the coffee bean is put in large drum machines to be roasted. The coffee is then sealed in bags and sent to the market.

Interesting information on coffee supplies. Sometimes it takes a lot of taste-testing. But, this is not a bad thing. This way you get to sample a plethora of coffee specialty drinks and see which ones you'll purchase of concoct again. I can't even imagine how many different flavors of syrup are out there now days. I have tasted nearly all of them. Well, with the exception of lemon and a few other bizarre fruit flavors that I feel would clash with espresso.
