Wanting to make the experience last as long as possible, I naturally carried as much coffee back with me as I could fit in my suit case. Knowing that the freshness is much better preserved when the beans haven’t been grinded, I only brought back whole bean coffee to make it last longer. As an area famous for its coffee, I was eager to try some genuine Costa Rican brews during my stay there last year and I was totally blown away when I did.

I and two other parishioners went to the supplier. This method of coffee bean roasting is efficient as it brings much energy into the beans but it takes a longer time to roast the beans than with a convectional coffee bean roaster. Coffee does this for us.

Every time I crushed that whole bean coffee it took me right back to Costa Rica, and I was in a coffee drinkers heaven for the next few months. Had I brought back already ground coffee, it would have lost a lot of its unique flavor. When I got home, I promptly put three of the four bags I purchased in the freezer, and left the other out for immediate use.

The majority of our events involve fifty or more people. The kitchen was stocked with one hundred cup coffee pots, but these are not the best coffee makers because they take so long to perk, and the coffee tastes bitter if it stands for any length of time. This means that we need to have coffee pots that are able to make many cups to serve all at once.

Interesting information on counter coffee. Who has time for that? Once I discovered the taste of freshly ground coffee beans, it was hard for me to think of using anything else. Though it takes me a little longer to get my coffee going in the morning, the results are worth it. Most already ground coffee is just fine, but there is just something wonderful about grinding your own coffee beans, loading up the machine, and tasting the amazing taste of the resulting fresh cup of coffee.
